Due to its boarded and currently vacant status and its long history as a dry cleaners in the community it represents an example of: a property where expansion, redevelopment or reuse may be complicated by the presence or potential presence of a hazardous substance, pollutant or contaminant.

Indeed, per file review from the State of Ky through a KORA request, environmental concerns have previously been identified and addressed at this site, including a limited cleanup completed by the State of KY in 2016. However, this cleanup activity was just in the rear of the site, and did not address potential conditions elsewhere on the site, or within the buildings.

This site represents a brownfield that may become a priority for future assessment and cleanup actions.
